Feast your eyes on this gorgeous laid-back colourful rainy wedding day at Old House 1147. A wedding full of personal touches and nods to Amber and Matt’s Welsh and Irish heritage. This was a joyful day to be part of, with a heck of a lot of rain, a heap of confetti, a second ceremony and a haircut in the evening. No two weddings are ever the same… And, yes you read that right, my incredible bride with the most beautiful hair cut her hair before first dance. The Perfect Venue for a Rainy Wedding Day

The Old House 1147 is a wonderful venue any time of year, aside from the location, incredible food and even better staff. What really makes this venue perfect for a wedding in rain or sunshine, is the rustic feel, it’s cosy, yet light with all the natural light pouring in. On this October day, there was however a small break in the weather, hooray!! We managed to get outside to throw confetti, but swiftly made our way inside for groups photos when the heavens opened up (again).

Outdoor rainy couple portraits

Close to this South Wales wedding venue is the most majestic forest. Yes it was still raining but we remained undercover for most of the couple portraits. So while it was a rainy wedding day, my couple embraced it. This insanely cool couple had wellies and clear umbrellas at the ready and said ‘well it is October.’ This easy going attitude meant I could capture some really beautiful moments that might not have happened had they not trusted me.

Wedding Evening Haircut

Another crazy highlight and the first for me was hearing ‘I’m going upstairs to get a haircut’ My reaction was simple, ‘Can I photograph this?’ I’m all about documenting these unique moments that make your wedding day yours. It was incredible to be in a room watching Amber’s insanely talented hair stylists (and friends) work. Then the excitement of seeing the groom’s reaction, which was priceless.

What a day and despite it being a mostly wet wedding, it didn’t matter one bit.

“Michelle is absolutely fabulous! As well as her amazing talent and style, she brings such an enthusiastic attitude and relaxed atmosphere to your wedding day! We had so many comments throughout our wedding day about how lovely she was and the photos speak for themselves regarding her talent. Michelle made us both feel totally at ease during our couples shoot and this really reflected on our wedding day, even in the rain! Would highly recommend working with her!”
