Cardiff Wedding Photographer Michelle Huggleston

Hello and Welcome!

If you’re looking for South Wales, Bristol and Cardiff wedding photography, then you’re in the right place. I’m Michelle, a Cardiff wedding photographer working with laid-back, camera shy couples who LOVE to have fun on their wedding day. I like to describe my wedding photography as colourful, fun and a little bit quirky.

I have always been creative, I loved art as a teenager. When it came to choosing subjects at college, I simply stumbled above photography. Sounds bizarre I know! But that’s how it happened. My friend chose photography and I thought that sounded interesting. But of course we ended up in completely different classes. One lesson in the darkroom and I was hooked. I fell head over heels in love with photography, so much that I studied it at university and graduated with a First Class BA (hons) degree.

I’ve been shooting non stop ever since, always learning and always creating. So before I got here, I assisted some photographers gaining experience, while also working full time. I’ve also worked in a camera shop developing film, a clothing boutique and even a cinema. The cinema and movies still really influence my work and I particularly loved working as a Cinema Projectionst, handling films, putting them onto reels and lacing up the film. One of my favourite feel good films being Housesitter starring Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin (there’s a fun fact for you!)

Me Time

When I take some time off, I like to spend as much time as I can with my nephews and niece, they’re growing up far too quickly, and the best thing is being an Aunt to them. As you can tell family and friends mean everything to me.

I also watch a lot of live comedy, watching my boyfriend perform stand-up comedy is something that fills me with equal amounts of happiness and dread (I get super worried with what stories he is telling!) I’ve spent many days off enjoying a strawberry daiquiri, doing a cross stitch and finishing off my latest book for bookclub. I enjoy wearing my cat pyjamas all day and binging on Goldie Hawn films or the latest Netflix show I’ve become addicted to!

My favourite camera is my Land Camera, I love shooting Polaroid.

"Michelle had been suggested to us by another couple, and when we saw their photos we understood why! But it isn’t just her great work...She made everyone feel so comfortable, but also got the job done when rounding people up for pictures! So many people commented about how lovely ‘our friend Michelle’ was! I felt a bit overwhelmed by everything and Michelle was so patient, understanding and made everything feel easy and natural. I honestly can’t recommend her enough."

Who You Are

By now you’re finding out a lot about me and my work in South Wales, Bristol and Cardiff wedding photography, but I’m sure you’re wondering are we a good match?
My wedding photography is for those camera shy couples. Those of you who want happy, colourful and fun photographs. You’re willing to put the time and effort in, but you’d enjoy a relaxed approach.
Me as your photographer doesn’t just start and end on your wedding day. To ensure your wedding is relaxed and fun I work with you during the lead up. We plan different aspects together, including your wedding day schedule and your family photo list. This is so you can let your hair down knowing that the family photographs you want are captured and treasured well beyond your wedding day.
This also means we get to know each other more, which for me always makes for a fantastic day. At the end of your wedding day, when I’m leaving I want yours guests saying happy things about ‘your friend Michelle’.

Are we a Good Match?

I can’t stress this enough… during your wedding planning and on your wedding day, I want you to have a blast, to let your hair down. If this isn’t you, I’m really not the photographer for you.

I live for those in-between, natural moments. When I give prompts, it’s never to catch anyone out. It’s always for it to be fun, to catch you, your bridesmaids and groomsmen laughing. This for me is what it’s all about. Yes, I’ve been paid to capture your day, but I want to have an incredible time doing it.

Capturing these natural moments are some of my favourite moments to document. I’ve written a quirky blog post all about this, so click here and find out if we’re a great match. And also check out my portfolio of wedding and engagement photography.

I'd love to hear your wedding plans and favourite film
