This weeks blog post is a little bit different. After Sunday’s fabulous showcase at The King Arthur Hotel I really wanted to put a ‘spotlight’ on this fantastic venue. So I thought rather than tell you my opinion about how welcoming the staff are at The King Arthur Hotel, in the Gower. Or how well run the venue is, and what a fantastic day I always have there. I thought I’d ask a previous couple Angharad and Jon all about their wedding. They got married at The King Arthur last summer and had an absolute ball!

Spotlight Venue – The King Arthur Hotel

•What attracted you to The King Arthur Hotel?

We had been to a few weddings at The King Arthur in previous years. Although we initially wanted a venue that our guests may not have experienced yet, The King Arthur was one of the only venues that ticked all of the boxes. The grounds are idyllic, there was plenty of accommodation for our guests. And with two little ones in tow, it meant that we could handover and stay the night before. This also meant that we were able to enjoy a fantastic meal with our families the evening before our wedding. This was stress free and let us embrace the big day knowing that everything was in good hands.

• What parts of the day stood out for you the most?

I think we would have to say the care and attention to detail that the experienced staff at The King Arthur Hotel put into our day. Whether it was making sure we were calm and relaxed in those little moments of panic, or making sure we were hydrated (on one of the hottest days of they year). It’s the little things that we didn’t realise we needed but our wedding co-ordinator Annelise had already pre-empted them.

• Do you have any funny stories or unusual anecdotes from the day?

When one of your Best-men put the wedding rings in their jacket pocket for safe keeping… only to then leave said jacket in the bar.
We also experienced a slight dress malfunction during the day. This was nothing that couldn’t be solved with a pair of pliers and our saviour of the day Annelise!

• Who/what made your day extra special?

To us, the day was about celebrating us a little family. Being able to share these moments  with our closest family and friends was so special. The emotion of the day was tangible and even had some of our guests in tears! Annelise completely understood what we wanted to achieve and carried it all out so effortlessly. We will never forget the warmth and kindness that was given to our children who were made to feel just as special as us!

• Would you have done anything differently?

We wouldn’t have changed a single thing about our day. It was simply perfect!

• Do you have any advice for couples currently planning?

Stick to your plan, enjoy the process and don’t get too carried away. Nobody will remember the exact shade of your bridesmaids dresses or whether you had a five tier cake. But they will remember the hospitality you and your venue create for them. Also, have complete faith in knowing that The King Arthur Hotel have a great team of experienced staff who will always go above and beyond.

Now can we do it all over again??

Thank you so much Angharad and Jon for telling us all just how fantastic The King Arthur Hotel is. If you’re currently venue hunting, I hope their answers have given you an insight into this beautiful, rustic and warm wedding venue. It’s always such a great day at this wedding venue and Angharad and Jon’s day was just incredible. We spent the summer evening in the wild meadow gardens and decided to stay on sight for all photographs. You don’t need to venture far when you get married in the heart of the Gower. Want to see more wedding inspiration? Head to my blog and see more real weddings. I photograph weddings all over the UK, in particular Cardiff and Swansea. So if it’s somewhere different than South Wales that you’re getting married, I’d love to hear all about your plans, let’s chat.
