Cosy Autumn Wedding at The King Arthur Hotel

Golden Hour King Arthur Hotel. Couple in wedding attire at Cefn Bryn road.

You’re in for a treat today. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot in all seasons at this rustic venue. But this was my first cosy Autumn wedding at The King Arthur Hotel. In fact it was dry, yet crisp and cold yet warm in the sunshine. Guests stayed outside enjoying the drinks receptions (yep in November!) And I got to witness and photograph one of the best moments (and epic reactions!) I’ve ever seen.

Read more to know what the heck I’m on about. Before you ask, yes, it was such an honour to be in the know of this INCREDIBLE little secret.

Autumn Gower Wedding

What a wedding! We actually did everything on this day a little bit different. Due to limitations on the ceremony time and Kirsty and Mike’s concern of the sunlight going. They decided to do a first look on the grounds of The King Arthur itself. I had to plan this with amazing wedding co-ordinator Rhian, and she suggested we do it near the pond.

It was such a beautiful moment to witness (and no this isn’t the secret!) the couple got to have a private moment and seeing each other allowed all the nerves to just drift away. Yes I was also crying behind the camera this is my second ‘first look’ and I loved it! We then headed into the meadows for photos to make use of the grounds before guests arrived.

The rest of the afternoon ran beautifully. A first look with Kirsty’s dad. Her dad walked her down the aisle (remember no-one else had seen her only the groom!) so you could still feel that excitement from that magically walk. Guests then enjoyed the weather in the courtyard, we threw confetti, headed to Cefn Bryn for golden hours photos and I waited with anticipation about what everyones reaction would be like.

Cosy Autumn Wedding at The King Arthur Hotel

This was one of the most emotional moments I’ve ever witnessed. Literally no-one knew. First speech done, now onto the groom, when he casually announced… yes they became two today, but there would also be an extra addition in a few months. Two were becoming three. Tears, shock, elated parents, siblings, family and friends. My camera was everywhere photographing these moments. That would be one happy blur, but will be looked upon time and time again of the most brilliant wedding speech ever!!

Why am I sharing this? It shows the confidence my couples have in me. Photographers really do need to know what’s going on. As much as I LOVE to see everyone else’s surprised faces. For me, I don’t want to be surprised I want to capture the beautiful reactions from family and friends.

King Arthur Wedding Review

“I can't recommend Michelle enough. We chose her because she had worked at our venue many times but mainly because she looked fun! You will spend so much time with your photographer, make sure they are someone who is professional but relaxed. We got on with Michelle right away and trusted her completely. We surprised our family with a pregnancy announcement on the day, Michelle was like a ninja capturing everyone's reactions. All our guests have mentioned since how amazing she was. And of course the photos are amazing, we are going to treasure them forever.”

I feel so ridiculously lucky that my couple confided in me, let me in on the secret. Allowing me to capture the BEST reactions. Remember it’s not just about couple photos, it’s about a whole wedding day. If this sounds like your style (no announcement needed!) Then contact me for more information about my fun and relaxed approach to wedding photography.
