Catrin and Seb’s wedding was my first wedding at Derwydd Mansion, I was so excited to photograph at a new venue and capture their Derwydd Mansion wedding photography. It was the perfect venue and backdrop for a unique, vintage and woodland themed wedding. It really is a hidden gem of Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthenshire Wedding Venue

While most venues I’ve been to or seen photographs of, Derwydd Mansion was totally new. If you’re thinking of getting married there… do it! It’s unique and has so much to offer from the interiors to the grounds. But most of all it is a family run venue. The family really looked after me all day, they would check in to see how we were doing on the schedule, they felt very present and very involved.

Derwydd Mansion

Catrin and Seb are fun, relaxed, creative and wanted a chilled out day with family and friends. We started the morning in Catrin’s childhood home, where I got to capture details and the brilliant Hair by Claire Louise working. I totally fell in love with Catrin’s choice of flower crown and bridal dress by Adelaide by Anna Campbell.

The transport to Derwydd Mansion was amazing. I love that Catrin’s Mum and Dad kept it a surprise and I think you can tell by the reactions, it was a total surprise! The rest of the day was a relaxed one, with guests enjoying drinks on the lawn, we did a few family photos before heading up to the marquee. One of the most emotional moments of the day was the wedding speeches. In particular I really loved Dean (Man of Honour) speech. It was funny and touching. He told so many wonderful stories about his and Catrin’s speech, that I was crying behind my camera.

Wedding Entertainment

I know that in some weddings some guests mention a lull. The time after food the couple go off for some photographs in the early evening and the guests have an hour to continue chatting and mingling. Catrin and Seb really thought about entertaining their guests and had Rich Relish a mind reading entertainer totally mesmorise their guests. He had them in the palm of his hands, he entertained the guests in between courses and boy did we get some funny reactions! If you can I’d definitely suggest having something different like this for your wedding guests. The evening saw guests dance the night away, filling up the dancefloor and celebrating this incredible couple.
