I first met Rhian and James at a wedding fayre, they told me their ideas about getting married in The Liberty Stadium in Swansea, and I was so excited, I listed a bunch of photo ideas, different things they could do to take full advantage of the stadium. I think they were taken a back by my enthusiasm of such a different wedding venue.
Rhian and James got married on a Thursday in November, they had to choose their date around the football fixtures, so a Saturday was out of the question. The only thing about it being on a Thursday was Rhian's son had an exam on their wedding morning… typical! But he was all smiles afterwards, phew!
The morning was fun and relaxed where all the ladies of the family were around Rhian's mums getting pampered. They then made the journey in style in a vintage VW Camper Van and a VW Beetle for the bridal car.
Rhian and James got married with the Swansea City FC pitch in the background. It was such an incredible space and such a different place to get married. We then wandered around taking photos while the guests enjoyed some drinks. We explored the press room, the dug out, the stands and even the home changing rooms. It was amazing, and Hayley that took care of us suggested so much to really make sure we were getting the most out of the time.
Although there were elements of a football theme, the venue, the football table, the XBox games, for me the main element was fun. They offered such a variety of different things to really make sure their guests enjoyed. I loved Luke the Close Up Magician, he was entertaining for everyone and the reactions I caught were fantastic. I even caught some of the Grandparents following him from table to table as they were so fascinated. Another personal touch was the characterchers, a gentlemen sketching guests, so instead of a typical photo from a photo booth to go home with, each guest went home with a charactercher of themselves, something I really loved.
